VP Arvind, Rotary Sg Petani Kedah

Dear Dr Brendan,

I really don’t know how to answer your questions or describe what’s happening. It’s been one heck of a day. Really exhilarating, I’ve just been in Rotary for 8 months, am underage for Rotary actually – 26 only. Our Club was only recently chartered.

I’m very new to this, but 23rd March 2011 will forever remain etched in my mind.

In under a day, our Club somehow managed to collect 750 blankets. I started the day by targetting 170 blankets, we have 17 members, so 10 blankets per member.

At noon, the number was around 150 blankets, 300 at 2pm, 500 at 6.30 pm, and when we convened our weekly meeting at 8.25pm, the number had reached 700 blankets.

This is so far excluding blankets that have been pledged and are expected to be dropped off at our collection point in the next two days.

Currently the count stands at 750 blankets and I somehow hope and am keeping my fingers crossed that we can hit 1,000 in a day or two.

If anyone were to ask me why I joined Rotary, this is it. I tell you, most of us over here are on a real high.

Regards,
Arvind
Vice-President
Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani
