Japan Disaster 2011 – Blankets 4 Survivors

Visual updates and reports on humanitarian aid collected and reports from Japan are available at www.QuickHelpWorld.weebly.com

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE DONATED NEW BLANKETS & CLOTHES. WE HAVE COLLECTED MORE THAN WE HAD EXPECTED. PLEASE DO NOT SEND US ANYMORE. WE APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS. COLLECTION CENTERS CLOSED ON 31 MARCH 2011. THIS EFFORT ENDED SUCCESSFULLY.

The disaster in Japan is probably one of the worst and most traumatic given the multiple waves of calamities that have hit and continue to affect survivors. Those who survived the earthquake, had to then survive the tsunami, those who survived the tsunami, had to deal with the aftershocks that gave fears to more tsunamies, those that survived than had to deal with the nuclear radiation fallout, and now they face extreme freezing temperatures.

Quickhelpworld is appreciative of the partners that are helping launch 1-Blanket 4-Japan – to provide new blankets from Malaysia to survivors in Sendai in an effort to save lives.

If you are in Malaysia, organize a blanket donation drive at your organization, and see details on this website on where to send them to (Rotary International or SP Setia collection centers), or contact us for a pick-up (more than 500 blankets).

With each person you know in Malaysia donating 1 blanket, we will have enough to fill a plane or two. Our minimum target is to collect 1 thousand new blankets within 1 week. (Please do not send us used/old blankets. It needs to be newly purchased).

Malaysian Airlines is willing to fly the blankets (and new clothes) to Japan.

Given the urgency and the extreme weather conditions, we hope to airlift these blankets by the week of 7 April 2011.

Please remember to individually wrap each blanket (or item of clothing) with plastic wrapping. Variety of size and thickness of blankets are most welcomed.  Remember to add an encouragement card. For details on Steps to Help, click here.

For each organization, kindly pack the blankets in boxes ready for airlift. (Clothes in separate boxes – marked clothes).

Closing Date for donations: 31 March 2011
